I took a day trip to Cheyenne, WY in August 2014. Located about 100 miles north of Denver, Cheyenne gets a mix of Wyoming and Colorado FM signals on its dial. What I found interesting was that the major Denver FM signals came in with strong stereo reception with RDS just south of the nearby CO/WY border, but almost all of the Denver signals vanished as I was entering Cheyenne. Only a few Denver signals made it into Wyoming all with staticy reception.
Just as strange, while in Denver I picked up RDS from Cheyenne’s 92.9 and HD Radio from the town’s 97.9 at 100 miles away, but I didn’t get either RDS nor HD Radio from the stations while in Cheyenne itself, even though both stations had local-grade signals on my radio.
