Woodstock, VA is an area I frequently DX in while visiting family whom live nearby. In the middle of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, Woodstock is 68 miles west of my Woodbridge, VA home. The Appalachian Mountains surround Woodstock, causing stations from point east to be severely attenuated, or not received at all. This largely contrasts with another location I’ve DXed from, Luray, VA, which is only 15 miles SW of Woodstock, but has a totally different radio band due to being east of the aforementioned mountain range. In Woodstock, most of the easterly Washington, DC signals that are locals at my home come in staticy indoors, or with RDS in the car. The area is largely devoid of any HD Radio signals, save for one from nearby Winchester, VA.
