June 20 was the best morning yet for DTV tropo in Northern Virginia since I’ve resumed DXing DTV last month. The major Norfolk, VA-area DTVs were in with local-grade signals for hours, while a few North Carolina DTVs came in, too. Most surprisingly, 9 WSKY-DT and 50 WGNT-DT came in with local-grade, strong signals right over local WUSA-DT and WDCW-DT, respectively. While getting screenshots from the new stations logged below, I also added better screenshots from 13 WVEC-DT, 16 WHRO-DT, 29 WVBT-DT, 31 WAVY-DT and 40 WTKR-DT from Norfolk, as well as relog 47 WUPV-DT from Richmond. The new screenshots below were added to the TV Screenshots page and my TV DX Log has been updated, too. The opening also brought in new HD and RDS screenshots, as well as audio files, from FM relogs.
Although not IDed by PSIP or decoded, I had very weak, but steady DTV signals on channels 10, 19, 32 and 45, which I assume were WNCT-Greenville, NC (228 mi), WUNM-Jacksonville, NC, WITN-Washington, NC and WNLO-CD Norfolk, VA, respectively, based on signal patterns and directions. Maybe I’ll log these soon!
9 WSKY-DT Manteo, NC, 6/20/13, 157 miles over local WUSA-DT
23 WUNK-DT Greenville, NC, 6/20/13, 216 miles
50 WGNT-DT Portsmouth, VA, 135 miles over local WDCW-DT
