Meteor scatter 6/8 – 6/9/13. 26 second-long ping, 1 new log and more.

2013-post-ms92.9 FM, once again, has proven to be a goldmine for meteor scatter reception in Northern Virginia.  I had my radio’s audio turned on, but quiet, at 11:47 p.m. June 8 and the 26 second-long ping, linked below, startled me and made me almost jump at the sudden noise.  I heard the distinct Red Hot Chili Peppers – Around the World song within the ping and found out that 92.9 WBOS started playing that song at 11:45 p.m., based on their web playlist.  WBOS is a NEW log.  Later in the night, unattended recordings picked up pings from relogs 92.9 WEZF and 92.9 WMFS.

26-second long ping from multiple stations, with 92.9 WBOS Brookline, MA, 404 miles, in at 0:18 with the RHCP song.

relog 92.9 WEZF Burlington, VT, 465 miles (“Star 92.9”)

relog 92.9 WMFS Bartlett, TN, 740 miles (“The Memphis…Playing all spring and summer long.  Listen to win on ESPN…)
