Es opening 6/12/12. 8 new logs.

Es was in and out of FM between 3:28 p.m. and 9:07 p.m. on June 12 in Northern Virginia in what I call the first respectable opening of 2012.  I had my radios set on 92.3 and 94.5 FM while away from my radios until 6:55 PM, and based on that, the skip started in LA and TX.  It went away around 5:30 p.m. to return at just about 6:45 p.m. into the Midwest.  The opening was unstable at times, with strong signals that, seconds later, were very weak.  It was the first time I heard more than one station ‘fighting’ for the frequency this year.  92.9 FM was three stations deep, but none were IDed.  96.3 FM, occupied locally by WHUR, was trashed for a while, with so many signals fighting that WHUR was inaudible.  The opening went out of FM at 7:20 p.m., but returned at 8:50 p.m. before finally dying at 9:07 p.m.  MUF for the opening was 107.1 FM, but most signals were below 101.3 FM.
